Beechwood Care

Our care, in detail

Five kinds of care, all of them quietly excellent.

Care should never feel like a product line. Even so, it helps to know roughly what we offer before we sit down for a proper chat. Here is the shape of it.

Round-the-clock company

Live-in care

A single dedicated carer comes to live in the family home, looking after everything from cooked meals and morning routines to medication and gentle company through the day. Most families find that — over a few weeks — the carer becomes a quiet, trusted presence rather than a paid stranger.

What is included

  • One trained, fully employed carer (never agency)
  • Help with washing, dressing and personal care
  • All meals, light housekeeping and laundry
  • Medication prompts and ordering
  • Companionship: walks, hobbies, hospital appointments
  • 24-hour on-call support from our care manager
Who it is for

Older adults who would find a move into a care home distressing — particularly those with dementia, mobility difficulties or chronic illness who need eyes on them through the day.

Starting price

from £1,250 per week (one carer, full board included)

From half an hour upwards

Hourly visiting care

Regular, friendly visits from the same small team of carers — to help with the routine, the medication, the cup of tea and the conversation. We will always introduce the carers in person before any visit goes ahead, and you will see the same faces week after week.

What is included

  • Visits from 1 to 8 hours, any day of the week
  • Help with personal care, mobility and medication
  • Meal preparation and shopping
  • Trips out — the GP, the hairdresser, the high street
  • A small consistent team of carers, never a rota stranger
Who it is for

Independent older adults who need a hand with one or two parts of the day — and the reassurance of seeing a familiar face on a regular schedule.

Starting price

from £28 per hour (minimum 1-hour visit)

Person-centred, gently delivered

Dementia & Alzheimer’s specialist care

Every Beechwood carer working with dementia clients has completed our 35-hour specialist programme, accredited by the Alzheimer’s Society. We focus on familiar routines, life-story-led conversation, and the small daily rituals that bring confidence back into the room.

What is included

  • Person-centred care plans built with the family
  • Continuity: the same one or two carers, every visit
  • Life-story documentation kept in the home
  • Gentle techniques for distress, confusion and sundowning
  • Close liaison with GP, district nurse and memory clinic
Who it is for

People living with any stage of dementia, vascular dementia or Alzheimer’s — and the families who love them and need a partner in the day-to-day.

Starting price

from £30 per hour, or £1,400 per week live-in

A trusted break

Respite care

When the regular family carer needs a break — for a holiday, a hospital stay of their own, or just to put their feet up — we step in. We pick up the existing routine carefully and keep things just as they were when you left.

What is included

  • From a long weekend to several weeks
  • Live-in or daily visits, whichever fits
  • Detailed handover from the family carer
  • Daily updates by phone, text or email — your choice
  • Same carer matched again for any future respite breaks
Who it is for

Family carers who are running on empty, or who have a holiday, surgery or family event coming up. Booking ahead is sensible — most respite is arranged 4 to 6 weeks in advance.

Starting price

from £1,250 per week live-in, or hourly visits as needed

For the loneliness no one talks about

Companionship

Sometimes the help that is really needed isn’t personal care — it is a friendly hour or two with someone who genuinely listens. Our companionship visits are gentle, unhurried, and unapologetically about company.

What is included

  • A regular visitor matched to shared interests
  • Walks, gardening, board games, baking, music
  • Trips out: the cinema, the garden centre, the seaside
  • Help writing letters, video-calling family abroad
  • Always the same carer, always at the same time
Who it is for

Older adults living alone who are coping practically — but for whom the days feel a little too quiet, particularly after a bereavement.

Starting price

from £28 per hour (minimum 2-hour visit)

Still not sure which fits?

That is exactly what the free home visit is for. Most families start one place and end up somewhere else — and we would rather get it right with you than guess.
